Days of our Lives' Tamara Braun is back in the saddle as Ava Vitali, and she's shared some behind-the-scenes tidbits about being back on set in Salem.

It won't be long before the residents of Salem are shocked by the reappearance of Ava Vitali. Actress Tamara Braun reveals that she returned to work at Days of our Lives last week, meaning her presumed dead alter ego will soon be hitting the canvas.

Braun took to social media to give fans a behind-the-scenes tease from her first day back on set. She joked, "Back in the saddle and back in my spanx! Oh my! 6 months of sweats has not prepared me for this torture."

Braun also took a moment to give the crew of DAYS a shout-out for keeping everyone safe with their COVID-19 safety protocols. However, she admitted that the nasal swab she had to take during her first day back was -- though necessary -- an incredibly uncomfortable experience.

"This was yesterday," she captioned a video of herself post-nasal swab, adding, "Thank you #Days for making my first day back a joy. The protocols @nbcdays have in place are incredible. They go above and beyond to keep us safe. #grateful #fun to be back #daytime #ava #covid_19"

DAYS is keeping mum about what brings Ava back to the canvas, but the show's executive producer, Ken Corday, teased that her return is "important, not only for Steve [Stephen Nichols] and Kayla [Mary Beth Evans], but for her son, Tripp [Lucas Adams], and others to be determined."

Braun has also kept quiet about storyline details, but she did take to social media shortly after news of her return broke to tease that many adventures lie ahead. "Well, well, well!! Looks like the cat is out of the bag! Ava and I are excited to return to Salem @nbcdays," she wrote. "Hope you come along for the ride to see where the adventure[s] take us!"

Braun has a unique soap opera résumé that includes five different roles on three different daytime dramas. On DAYS, the actress played the role of Ava Vitali from 2008 to 2009 and for another stint that ran from 2015 to 2016, which ended with Ava apparently being smothered to death. However, in between her DAYS stints as Ava, Braun briefly took on the role of Taylor Walker in 2011. On ABC's General Hospital, the actress played both Carly Corinthos and Kim Nero. And she also portrayed the character of Reese Williams on All My Children from 2008 to 2009.
