Chandler Massey steps back into the role of Will Horton this week. But with Will having been killed off two years ago, will Massey be playing a ghost? An evil twin? A zombie? The actor offers some details to tease his return to Days of our Lives.

When three-time Daytime Emmy winner Chandler Massey (Will Horton) rejoins Days of our Lives on Friday, September 15, it's safe to say that the show's latest reboot will finally kick into high gear. After all, Will's death in 2015 has been decried by many soap fans as one of the biggest mistakes in recent soap opera history.

That said, there will have to be one heck of an explanation as to how and why Will has come back to life.

"Will certainly wouldn't be the first person to come back from the dead," Massey responded in an interview with the New York Post. He adds that the writers have crafted "a medically plausible explanation" for Will's resurrection. And, just in case there was any concern, he will not be a zombie.

In order to facilitate Massey's return to DAYS, the actor did have to re-shoot some scenes, including Will's now-infamous death scene. When Will was killed off, Massey had already exited the show, and the role was being played by Guy Wilson.

"The scenes were very intense and required a lot of energy," Massey said of re-taping scenes previously shot by another actor.

For his part, Wilson took to social media shortly after Massey's return to DAYS was announced.

"I couldn't be more happy that Chandler Massey, a tremendous daytime actor and a friend to boot, is back in the saddle as the steward of such an important LGBTQ icon," Wilson wrote on Instagram.

Massey originally departed Days of our Lives in 2013 to attend UCLA. He has, however, done some non-daytime acting since then. Massey has appeared in episodes of NBC's Bad Judge and the Disney Channel's BUNK'D. He's also appeared in the films Butterfly Caught and The Standoff. Massey also has a couple of films in post-production.

Look for Massey's first scenes to play out this Friday when Will appears in a drunken hallucination of his on-screen father Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Roberts). Or maybe it's not a hallucination.
