JANUARY 1997
January 6 to 10, 1997
Stephanie threw a big party for Ridge and Taylor to celebrate their engagement. Taylor announced that she had chosen Stephanie as her matron of honor. Brooke and Grant arrived at the marina and boarded their "marriage boat." Brooke wanted to delay leaving the harbor, but the captain warned that the fog would be closing in soon. Ridge decided he had to stop Brooke's wedding. He and Thorne raced for the marina, but the ship was already pulling out. As Ridge screamed her name, Brooke turned and walked back into the cabin.
January 13 to 17, 1997
While confronting Ridge about buying a motorcycle to chase down Brooke, Taylor postponed her wedding until Ridge could figure out which woman he truly wanted. An angry Ridge belted Thorne for running his mouth off to Taylor about their attempt to stop Brooke's wedding. Grant learned from Taylor that her wedding to Ridge had never happened, but instead of sharing that news with Brooke, Grant tried, to no avail, to consummate his marriage. Brooke attempted to make the best of her new marriage, but she was stunned when she saw that Ridge wasn't wearing a wedding ring.
January 20 to 24, 1997
Hours before Claudia's court appearance, Enrique and Thorne devised a wedding plan to save Claudia from deportation, and Claudia told her family that Thorne had asked her to marry him. When she arrived at the courthouse, Thorne revealed that Enrique was the actual groom, and Claudia promptly declined the proposal. Stephanie's family attorney encouraged Stephanie to speak up for Claudia at her deportation hearing. In doing so, Stephanie was awarded custody of Claudia until the court granted Claudia political asylum. Stephanie asked Thorne to get Taylor to put her feelings aside and marry Ridge. James was surprised when Maggie showed up at his office and popped her coat open to reveal her sexy lingerie. Molly, Sheila's mother, arrived in Los Angeles to live. Sheila was struck with a bout of morning sickness, which forced Maggie to take Molly house hunting while James tended to Sheila.
January 27 to 31, 1997
Stephanie asked Thorne to remember her request of him to help reunite Taylor and Ridge, but instead of obliging his mother, Thorne took Taylor some flowers and kissed her. Upset by the kiss, Taylor insisted that Thorne never do it again. Ridge saw the flowers and warned Thorne to stay away from Ridge's fiancée. During a romantic luncheon, Taylor's defense of Thorne enraged Ridge. Macy asked Thorne to return home to work on their marriage, but Thorne was still bitter because she'd distrusted him. Having a change of heart, Thorne called Macy to reconcile. Macy learned that Claudia was living at the mansion where Thorne resided, and Macy declared that she wanted a divorce. Sheila tired to seduce James by prancing around the house in her lingerie. Maggie admonished Sheila for it, and Sheila decided that Maggie had to go.

FEBRUARY 1997
February 3 to 7, 1997
Stephanie flew into a rage when she caught Thorne hugging Taylor. Thorne admitted that he'd developed feelings for Taylor, and because Ridge had betrayed Thorne with Caroline, Thorne decided that he owed no loyalty to his big brother. Ridge tried to make amends with Thorne, but when Thorne rebuffed him, Ridge suspected that Thorne had feelings for Taylor. Stephanie planned to use a dinner party to turn Thorne's attention toward Claudia. During the meal, Ridge blatantly rubbed his intimate relationship with Taylor in Thorne's face, and Thorne charged away from the table. While at a bar drowning out his sexual frustrations, Grant learned from the bartender that a nearby patron was a con man who held fake weddings on his boat. Grant recognized the patron as the captain who'd married him and Brooke. Brooke confided in Ridge that her marriage hadn't been consummated, and Ridge urged Brooke to move on from the past. Lauren showed Eric some of her designs, but when he felt they weren't right for Forrester, she took them to Spectra, where Clarke made her feel more than welcome.
February 10 to 14, 1997
Claudia confronted Stephanie about her ploy to use Claudia to turn Thorne's head. Stephanie quipped that Claudia was just afraid to compete with Taylor. As Thorne watched Ridge and Taylor get romantic by the pool, Claudia slipped into Thorne's room, wearing lingerie. Thorne was torn between his feelings for Taylor and his sexual desires, but Claudia ultimately decided that it would be wrong for them to have sex. Ridge and Thorne bickered about Thorne, and Claudia and Taylor each warned the other to stay away from Thorne. Thorne surprised Taylor by asking her to go away with him. As Grant tried to figure out how to break through Brooke's intimacy barriers, Katie convinced Brooke to go on a date with Grant. Jessica called Maggie, in hysterics, and Maggie flew to London to see about Jessica. Assuming that James expected her to seduce him while Maggie was away, Sheila flipped the script and showed him the wholesome side of her. After learning that Stephanie still held out hope of a reunion with Eric, Lauren reluctantly broke off her relationship with him.
February 17 to 21, 1997
Thorne tried to whisk Taylor off to Tahiti to sort out their feelings for each other, but Taylor refused to be the bone of contention within the Forrester family. Thorne hinted to Brooke that Taylor had another man in her life, and Brooke was shocked when he revealed that he was the man. Thorne was crushed when Taylor turned down his trip to set a wedding date with Ridge. As Stephanie talked about her feelings for Eric, Lauren encouraged Stephanie to go after Eric before someone else did. Eric pressured Lauren to tell him why she couldn't be with him, and the conflicted Lauren pretended that another man was involved. Clarke interrupted their talk, and Eric assumed that Clarke was that other man. Tired of how the Forresters treated him, Grant tried to convince Brooke to sign papers that would put him in charge of Forrester. Ridge, who was supposed to be setting a wedding date with Taylor, learned from Megan that Connor and Grant were with Brooke. As Taylor waited for Ridge on the beach, Ridge burst into Brooke's office and demanded to know what they were up to.
February 24 to 28, 1997
Lauren continued to urge Stephanie to go after Eric, but Lauren was unhappy upon seeing Eric and Stephanie dancing at the Café Russe. As Eric wondered if accepting Lauren's designs could have saved their relationship, Lauren signed on with Spectra. Ridge attempted to put a stop to Grant's play for the company, but Brooke decided to give the matter more thought before acting. Taylor got upset when she learned from Megan that, instead of being with Taylor, Ridge was in a private meeting with Brooke. Upset with Ridge, Taylor got drunk and set herself and her house on fire. Thorne saved Taylor's life when he rescued her from the burning house. At the hospital, Taylor decided that she was done with Ridge, and Thorne happily relayed that message to Ridge. Brooke attempted to get intimate with Grant, but Thorne's premonition about Ridge and Taylor caused Brooke to stop. Maggie returned home early from her trip and was shocked to see James and Sheila bonding over an ultrasound of their baby. Maggie and Sheila clashed over James, and Sheila continued to plot to rid herself of Maggie.

MARCH 1997
March 3 to 7, 1997
Brooke signed control of Forrester Creations over to Grant. Taylor was hospitalized with severe burns to her face and body. Everyone was anxiously awaiting the removal of the bandages to see if there would be permanent scarring. She was lucky; there was only discoloration and blistering. Curtis, the plumber from Iowa, arrived at Maggie's house to fix the garbage disposal; Sheila watched with interest. She wondered if it could be the answer she had been searching for.
March 10 to 14, 1997
Eric and Stephanie spent the night together and decided to get back together. The Forresters learned that Grant was the new CEO of their company. Brooke had to ask Michael to leave after Michael tried to convince her that Grant was only after her company. Stephanie took a gun to the office. Ridge and Grant fought; Grant had security escort Ridge from the building with Ridge threatening to kill Grant.
March 17 to 21, 1997
Grant sent Brooke to Paris; he didn't want her to have to deal with the Forresters. All week, his enemies lined up outside his door. He only had Clark Garrison to talk with. Taylor returned home from the hospital. Ridge noticed she was developing feelings for Thorne. He asked for just a chance to win her back again. Sheila paid Curtis to get Maggie to fall in love with him. Stephanie had a gun, and many people knew it. Grant was shot.
March 24 to 28, 1997
Ridge found Grant in his office, shot in the chest. When the police arrived, Grant accused Ridge of the dirty deed. Grant was rushed into surgery; the bullet was only a couple of inches from killing Grant. Brooke rushed home from Paris to be by her husband's side. She apologized for her past behavior toward him and promised it would be different. Ridge was released on a one-million-dollar bond with a restraining order to stay away from Grant. Everyone at Forrester was fingerprinted, but Lieutenant Baker believed they had their man. Grant was terrified when Ridge showed up in his hospital room.
March 31 to April 4, 1997
Ignoring the restraining order against him, Ridge went to the hospital to question Grant. He blocked the doorway and appeared to be choking a terrified Grant when the police arrived. Ridge was arrested once again and thrown in jail. Sheila signed up for childbirth classes and wanted James to attend with her. He was excited but wanted Maggie along also. Sheila reluctantly agreed, but when Maggie heard of the plans, she threw a jealous fit. Curtis arrived to save the day when another pipe "sprung a leak." Felicia returned to Los Angeles. Jonathan hired a private investigator to help Ridge while "hiding" Ridge from the press in a seedy hotel room. Grant left the hospital then returned to work. The staff welcomed him with a big party. Afterward, Grant and Brooke made love in the office.

APRIL 1997
April 7 to 11, 1997
Taylor went to Big Bear with Thorne. Ridge visited her room late at night, and they had a long talk. Taylor warned him about his impulsive behavior. James and Maggie had plans for a day out, but Sheila and the childbirth classes spoiled the plans. Jones, the private investigator, kept nosing around Forrester Creations, asking question of everyone. Felicia confronted Lauren about what was going on between her and Eric.
April 14 to 18, 1997
Hunter Jones began his investigation into the shooting of Grant Chambers. Thorne and Taylor took a trip to Big Bear for skiing. Ridge awakened Taylor in the night. They talked, and Ridge ended up falling asleep on her bed. Later, back at Forrester while being questioned by Jones, Taylor admitted Ridge had been at Big Bear. Grant threw a big costume ball to show off the fall collection. Ridge sneaked in so that he could talk with Taylor, but security guards were on the lookout for him. Eric proposed marriage to Stephanie.
April 21 to 25, 1997
Grant threw an elaborate costume ball to kick off the preview of the fall collection. Hunter, the private investigator investigating for Ridge was there, dressed as Father Time. Grant had the room full of private security with orders to call the police if Ridge showed up. Ridge had to see Taylor, so he crashed the party as Zorro. Taylor was shocked; she asked him if he knew he was in danger of going to jail again. When Ridge was almost captured, he swung by the chandelier through the picture window and got away. Maggie and James tried to talk about their problems. Maggie said they were entirely different; James wouldn't be happy in her world, and she wasn't sure she could be happy in his. After having Grant go to the police station and look over the evidence one more time, Jones gathered the "clan" -- and all involved in the shooting -- at the Forrester home, where he told them that the shooter was . . .
April 28 to May 2, 1997
Hunter Jones took his time about laying out his theory, but eventually he informed everyone that Grant had shot himself to get Ridge out of his way. Ridge tried to convince Brooke to leave with the children: Grant was dangerous, Ridge told her. Brooke didn't believe that Grant had shot himself, even though she didn't believe that Ridge had done it either. Maggie and Curtis dined at the Café Russe; Maggie was impressed that Curtis could be sophisticated. Curtis ordered in fluent French. Knowing that Maggie and Curtis would dine at Café Russe, Sheila manipulated James into taking her there. James saw Maggie and Curtis enjoying themselves. Sheila told James that she owed him and his father a lot for changing her life, and said she prayed every night that they could be a family together.

MAY 1997
May 5 to 9, 1997
The trial began. Taylor attended, even though it was hard for her seeing Ridge standing trial for attempted murder. Brooke was worried about Rick; he wasn't doing well in school. Michael testified against Ridge; her testimony was harmful to the case. She testified that when she handed the gun to Ridge in his office, he had pointed it toward Grant's office and uttered the words, "Tempting, very tempting." Lauren agreed to stand up for Stephanie at the wedding. There was another confrontation between Grant and Rick when Rick overheard his mother, Grant, and Connor discussing the adoption. Thorne was called to the courthouse; he was to testify for the prosecution. He happened into the room where Ridge and Taylor were embracing and kissing. He was shaken up at the sight.
May 12 to 16, 1997
The trial continued. Thorne had to testify, but he maintained control during the experience. At the end, he testified that his brother could never kill anyone. Maggie and Sheila had another confrontation. Maggie ordered Sheila out of the house. When Sheila refused to leave, Maggie attempted to physically throw her out. But in the scuffle, Sheila fell over a coffee table. She was rushed to the hospital with pain and bleeding. James discovered what had happened and rushed to the hospital. Thorne was disturbed when he saw Ridge and Taylor kissing. Brooke wanted Grant to go to the D.A. and say he wasn't sure who had shot him. Grant appeared to be giving it considerable attention when Eric showed up and the two men "butted heads," the upshot being that Grant said he would see Ridge in jail.
May 19 to 23, 1997
The trial continued. Clark testified as a hostile witness, but he did more harm than good. Brooke took the stand, and Jonathan humiliated her. Under protest, Jonathan called Hunter to the stand, where he testified on cross-examination that he knew that Grant had not shot himself. He only needed a few days to prove who had shot Grant. With that, the judge ordered a recess. Sheila was still spotting. The doctor said she would need bed rest and freedom from stress for the next two months. Maggie wished she had done things differently but refused to take the blame for what had happened. James was beginning to see just how much Sheila was sacrificing.
May 26 to 30, 1997
Sheila remained in the hospital. The doctors felt she needed to remain calm and in bed for the next two months. Lauren visited her and didn't believe that she was only concerned with her baby. As she was escorted out by a nurse, Lauren warned them not to let Sheila anywhere near the nursery, as she had a habit of stealing babies. Brooke's mother visited. Claudia visited Taylor and asked her if she was just leading Thorne on; she spilled the beans about Thorne buying Taylor an engagement ring. The trial was drawing to a close. Grant begged Ridge to stop Hunter Jones, but Ridge definitely would not. Grant finally broke down and told Ridge that it was Rick who had shot him. Ridge didn't believe Grant, but the next morning, Hunter showed up at Ridge's hotel and told him the same story. Ridge visited Rick, who was holed up in his room -- the walls depicting bloody horror -- with the music blasting away, playing computer games. As Rick realized someone was in the room, he turned and glared at Ridge with cold, hard eyes.

JUNE 1997
June 2 to 6, 1997
Ridge found Rick in his room, playing violent video games and listening to violent music. Rick said he was afraid that Ridge would go to jail and believed Grant had framed Ridge by shooting himself. Rick told Ridge he would "kill" to have Ridge go free. Ridge said Rick hadn't always been that angry or hostile, but Rick shrugged his mood off by saying it was nothing. Ridge questioned if Rick had any idea who had shot Grant. "How would I know?" Rick asked. Ridge finally arrived at the courthouse and took the stand. He confessed to shooting Grant. He was handcuffed and taken to a jail cell. Sheila went into labor and wanted James at her side. James arrived and supported her through the labor. There was no way to stop the labor because Sheila was fully dilated. There was a lot of bleeding; the doctor wanted to do a Caesarian section because the placenta was separating, but Sheila insisted she could do it. The baby's heart rate dropped dangerously, but eventually Sheila delivered a baby girl. Taylor visited Ridge at the jail, but he continued to insist that he had shot Grant. He wanted her to go on with her life and find someone else who could take care of her needs.
June 9 to 13, 1997
Maggie bonded with the new baby until Sheila arrived to breast feed. Taylor visited Ridge in jail and tried to get him to open up to her, but he continued to say that he had deliberately shot Grant. He told Taylor she had to forget him and get on with her life. Thorne moved in with a depressed Taylor "just to be near in case she needs him." He presented her with a gift: a golden retriever. Grant visited James and told him that it was Rick who had shot him. James said that he would treat Rick, but the boy was in serious trouble. He advised that Brooke be told. Grant didn't want to tell Brooke, but when James insisted that it was important for Rick's sake, Grant rushed off to the cabin. At the cabin, Brooke was preparing to give Grant the night of his dreams. However, that dream turned into a nightmare when Grant confessed the truth about who had shot him. Brooke was angry with Grant and ordered him to leave. The next day, she visited Ridge and told him she still loved him, but he sent her back to Grant. Brooke arrived at Grant's office and found him packing to leave. She told him that she wanted her marriage. She wanted a stable home for Rick.
June 16 to 20, 1997
A maid found Eric's cuff link in Lauren's bed and took it to Stephanie. Lauren admitted that, before she had realized that Stephanie was still in love with Eric, she and Eric had been falling in love. Maggie was eager to get the adoption finalized while James struggled with his feelings for Sheila. They were informed that Sheila didn't have to turn the baby over to them, and if she did, she still could change her mind at any time until the adoption became final. Taylor and Ridge had several emotional confrontations in the prison. Taylor wanted to wait for Ridge, but he insisted that she get on with her life. Thorne and Stephanie clashed over his standing by Taylor. James began his evaluation of Rick.
June 23 to 27, 1997
Sheila finally realized that James really wanted her to sign the adoption papers. With her heart breaking, she signed the papers and left the hospital. Brooke realized what Taylor was going through with Ridge in jail, but she was afraid to tell her the whole story. Not only had Stephanie thrown Lauren out of the guesthouse, she had her banned from Forrester. With Sally's help, Lauren moved into a fabulous penthouse apartment. Taylor was unable to cope so she turned to the bottle once again. James tried to offer counseling and support. After letting Ridge believe that he was moving out of Taylor's house, Thorne made plans to take her to Hawaii. Clark discovered that Sally was transferring Spectra stock to her children. He demanded a part of Spectra, but Sally said no.
June 30 to July 4, 1997
James and Maggie shared a romantic night. Thorne and Taylor arrived in Hawaii, but Taylor could not escape the memory of Ridge. She was given a hula lesson by a group of young Hawaiian girls. Ridge decided to tell Taylor the whole story and was stunned when Jonathan told him that Taylor was in Hawaii with Thorne. Visiting Lauren in her new penthouse, James kissed her passionately but admitted he was still committed to Stephanie.

JULY 1997
July 7 to 11, 1997
Ridge was shocked to learn that after promising to stay away from Taylor, Thorne had taken Taylor to Hawaii. Margaret returned home from the hospital, but Maggie continued to worry that Sheila would change her mind about the adoption. After talking to Grant about Taylor, Ridge decided he wanted to tell her the truth and ask her to wait for him. He wrote her a letter, pouring out his heart to her. In court, Grant testified on Ridge's behalf. The judge decided to think on all that Grant had said and get back with her decision later that day. Stephanie and Eric found the hotel where Thorne and Taylor were staying. They faxed the letter Ridge had written. When the letter arrived, Thorne kept it from Taylor.
July 14 to 18, 1997
Back in court, the judge reduced the charges against Ridge and put him on probation for three years. He was free. Maggie was determined to find Sheila. She hired Connor to find her. Finding her in Death Valley, she drove there to see for herself that it was Sheila and that she had moved on with her life. After seeing Sheila, Maggie tried to leave, but Sheila saw and confronted her. When Thorne and Taylor arrived at the Forrester home, a party was going on. They were shocked to find Ridge there. Ridge explained all that happened -- how it was Rick who had shot Grant -- and how he had hoped to spare her by turning her away. But he loved her and wanted her back. Thorne and Ridge fought over Taylor.
July 21 to 25, 1997
Maggie drove to Death Valley to check out Sheila. They had an emotional confrontation. Ridge returned to work at Forrester, and Brooke was there to welcome him back. Lauren had herself delivered to Eric's office inside an oversized package. Sheila confided in Amber. Eric spent the night with Lauren.
July 28 to August 1, 1997
Clarke was disappointed when Sally did not give him a part of Spectra. While drowning his problems at a local bar, Clarke saw the captain who had married Grant and Brooke. While talking to the bartender, Clarke realized that the captain was a fraud. Clarke used his newfound knowledge to find a way into Forrester -- he went to Thorne with the information. Mike took pictures of the baby for Sheila. Amber broke into Sheila's room and found it a shrine to James and "Mary." Thorne confronted Brooke and told her that she and Grant were not married.
Return to the top of this section.

AUGUST 1997
August 4 to 8, 1997
Thorne continually reminded Brooke that Ridge was still free; he insisted that Ridge really loved her. Brooke didn't know what she was going to do about her "marriage" to Grant. Sheila discovered that James and Maggie planned to hire a babysitter for Margaret; Sheila was upset about that, plus the fact that Mary was called Margaret. Grant broke into Clarke's office and punched him for going to Thorne with the news of his "non-marriage."
August 11 to 15, 1997
Lauren "kidnapped" Eric and took him to Big Bear. Stephanie discovered Lauren's plot and rushed to Big Bear for a confrontation -- and a mud fight. Amber wanted to apply for the babysitting position, and Sheila reluctantly coached her. Brooke told Grant that there would not be a marriage. Fearing for Brooke's safety, Ridge stood up Taylor and rushed to the rescue.
August 18 to 22, 1997
Grant erupted when Brooke told him there would be no marriage. Feeling Brooke was in danger, Ridge rushed to her house and threw Grant out. Brooke told Ridge that she still loved him. After having abdominal pain on several occasions, Taylor visited the doctor. She learned that she was pregnant. Looking for Ridge, Taylor arrived at Brooke's home, and Brooke began to harass her; she told Taylor that she was going after Ridge. Brooke said that Ridge still loved her, and everything he had done proved it. After Brooke left, Taylor once again experienced pain and collapsed to the floor. Thorne rescued Taylor and took her to Big Bear for some much-needed rest. Clarke left Spectra. Amber was hired as Mary/Margaret's nanny.
August 25 to 29, 1997
Forrester had lost their new collection. They turned the company upside down in search of the collection. Grant showed up at Spectra with a gift: Forrester's collection. Sheila moved back to Los Angeles with Amber. Amber began her duties while Maggie and James went out to dinner. Unable to quiet the child, Amber frantically called Sheila. Sheila arrived and breast-fed the infant. The doctor paid a call on Taylor at Big Bear and warned that if she didn't get her stress under control, she would lose the baby. Taylor was frantic to get back to L.A. so she could tell Ridge about the baby, but a sudden storm closed the roads and she was stuck at Big Bear. Meanwhile, Brooke pulled out all the stops and seduced Ridge. Sally and Darla viewed the X-rated video Lauren had made of her night with Eric.
Return to the top of this section.

SEPTEMBER 1997
September 1 to 5, 1997
Brooke pulled out all the stops in her attempt to snare Ridge. She asked him to sleep with her, but Ridge turned her down. Meanwhile, Taylor and Thorne were stuck in the cabin at Big Bear due to the heavy rains. The plans for the wedding got underway. Lauren was invited to the wedding, and at the last minute, she decided to attend. She thought it would make letting go of Eric easier if she actually saw him taking his vows.
September 8 to 12, 1997
Taylor stumbled out of the house after seeing Ridge and Brooke in bed together. However, Ridge stopped himself before anything happened. Taylor ended up in the hospital again with pain. She was told in no uncertain terms that if she continued to live with the stress she was under, she would lose the baby. The wedding began -- sans Ridge and Taylor -- with Thorne stepping in as Eric's best man. During the ceremony, as the minister turned the page in the Bible, he was startled to find a picture of Eric and Lauren in bed. The ceremony was put on hold while the minister talked to Eric and Stephanie. When Stephanie saw the photo, she called off the wedding. Amber returned home with the baby without Maggie. Sheila showed up and commenced to breast-feed the baby. Taylor called Ridge to her house and told him that she was pregnant -- but the baby was Thorne's.
September 15 to 19, 1997
Ridge went to Big Bear and burned all his memories of Taylor. Amber went to James and told him that she was Sheila's friend. Instead of firing her, James asked her to stay on and keep him informed of all that Sheila was doing. Macy learned that Taylor was carrying Thorne's baby and they were planning to marry. Macy went out with Grant and "suffered" a highly erotic daydream. Stephanie learned that Taylor was carrying Thorne's baby and went to the beach house to confront her. Sheila arrived at the Warrick residence and demanded her baby back.
September 22 to 26, 1997
Stephanie went to see Taylor and predicted that she would ruin Thorne's life if she married him while in love with Ridge. Thorne told his mother that if she couldn't accept his marriage to Taylor, she could stay away from the wedding. Lauren learned that Sally had put the photo in the Bible. She told Eric but it made no difference; he didn't want anything more to do with her. She then warned him that "his" designs were being shown at Spectra. Spectra had a lavish and successful showing of their spring '98 fashions. Grant was hailed as the new star of Los Angeles fashion. Eric climbed upon the stage, trying to get to Grant, but the guards dragged him away. The judge told Maggie and James that they had to give the baby back to Sheila. Sheila, her lawyer, and a sheriff deputy arrived to pick up the baby.
September 29 to October 3, 1997
Eric tried to get Lauren to help him get his relationship with Stephanie back, but Ms. Fenmore refused. Even though James told Sheila that she was making a huge mistake, Sheila took her baby home anyway. James and Maggie, with the encouragement of their attorney, devised a plan to prove Sheila unfit and regain custody of Mary/Margaret. James promised Amber a red convertible when Margaret returned to his home. Thorne and Brooke arranged a "double date" so that Taylor would see Brooke and Ridge together. Thorne felt it would once and for all get Ridge out of Taylor's system. However, Taylor decided she could no longer lie to Ridge about the baby's paternity.
Return to the top of this section.

OCTOBER 1997
October 6 to 10, 1997
Thorne warned Taylor not to jeopardize her pregnancy by telling Ridge the truth, but Taylor tried to tell Ridge anyway. Instead of listening to Taylor, Ridge blasted Taylor with harsh word that he later regretted uttering. Brooke tried once again to seduce Ridge, but Stephanie "caught" her and tried to humiliate her. Stephanie went to Café Russe with Eric. Sally was there and called Lauren. Lauren, dressed to the nines, arrived and sang a seductive song. Eric appeared enraptured and thanked Lauren for the song, as it showed him his real feelings -- then he kissed Stephanie. The Forresters announced plans for their spring showing in Italy.
October 13 to 17, 1997
Ridge visited Taylor in answer to her urgent phone call. However, Thorne had drugged her and, despite a "dream" in which she told Ridge about the baby, she slept through his visit. Plans were made for a spring showing by Forrester in Milan, Italy. James and Maggie had their marriage annulled, and James moved in with Sheila. Suspicious, Sheila suggested they get married -- that night. Brooke prepared the ultimate seduction scene in the office. The lovemaking was interrupted before it was consummated -- by Thorne and Megan. Unable to understand why Ridge hadn't answered either of her latest messages, which Thorne had stolen, Taylor disobeyed her doctor's orders and went to Ridge's home.
October 20 to 24, 1997
Thorne and Dr. Santana raced to find Taylor before Ridge could return home and find her there. James continued to try to convince Sheila that he wanted to be with her. Sheila was still pushing for a quick marriage. The Forresters packed up and flew out of Los Angeles for the big fashion show in Italy. On the plane, Brooke cornered Ridge in the lavatory and announced that she wanted to join the "mile-high" club, and he was to initiate her. Darla managed cheap tickets to Milan for Sally and Lauren, but under abominable, and laughable, conditions.
October 27 to 31, 1997
On a night out, Macy sang for Grant. Amber hoped she could do the same for someone someday. The entire Forrester bunch flew first class to Milan, Italy, while Sally and Lauren flew coach on a slow plane for the same destination. The spring show began, and it appeared to be a bomb when suddenly, the crowd began to respond. It was a success. Eric made plans to marry Stephanie in Como. While Stephanie was on her way to the wedding, Sally stopped Stephanie. Stephanie pushed Sally into the lake and stole a nearby boat. In the middle of the lake, the boat suddenly developed engine trouble, leaving Eric wondering why Stephanie was so late. Ridge bought an engagement ring and made plans to meet Brooke in the upper garden. Before arriving for the date, Brooke learned that Ridge was the father of Taylor's baby.

NOVEMBER 1997
November 3 to 7, 1997
On the way to her wedding, Stephanie's boat encountered engine trouble. Thinking that Stephanie didn't want to marry him, a depressed Eric used the plane he had charted for the honeymoon to return to Los Angeles. Leaving herself, Lauren boarded the plane to congratulate the couple. Learning that there had been no marriage, she hitched a ride back home with Eric. Even though she had learned that Taylor was carrying Ridge's baby, Brooke accepted his marriage proposal. She told Thorne that Ridge could never learn that he was the father of that baby and he also could never know that she knew. James and Sheila went to Café Russe to celebrate after James and Connor installed a hidden camera in the nursery. James worked on getting Sheila drunk. Returning home tipsy, he watched as she staggered to the crib and carried the baby to the rocking chair. Eric's plane flew through a storm. There was an explosion, and the plane crashed. Only Lauren and Eric survived - but it was unclear for how long in the frozen tundra.
November 10 to 14, 1997
After Sheila announced to Maggie that she and James were engaged, Sheila and Maggie had a "knock-down-drag-out" fight. Eric and Lauren attempted to survive in the frozen tundra of Greenland during a severe blizzard. Grant and Macy had a romantic dinner date. Expecting a proposal of marriage, Macy was shocked to learn that all Grant was interested in was making love. For his efforts, all Grant got was a glass of ice water dumped into his lap.
November 17 to 21, 1997
Ridge and Brooke decided to postpone their wedding until after Eric was found. Eric and Lauren remained confused by their rescuer/captor. Sheila questioned James's love for her and promised him that if he still wanted to be married to Maggie, she would understand and allow them visitation rights to Mary. James, Maggie, Connor, and Amber set up an elaborate sting to prove Sheila was an unfit mother.
November 24 to 28, 1997
Taylor learned that Brooke and Ridge had postponed their wedding. Eric continued to be suspicious of Rush, while Lauren grew closer to the man. James, Maggie, Connor, and Amber completed their scheme to prove Sheila an unfit mother, but they were foiled when Sheila left Margaret with Mike. The wedding went through, but Mike told Sheila of the plan to trap her. She waited for James on the roof of the hotel; when he joined her, she told him goodbye and jumped.

DECEMBER 1997
December 1 to 5, 1997
Rush continued to draw closer to Lauren. Eric persuaded Lauren to talk Rush into shaving, since he seemed familiar to Eric. After Rush shaved, Eric recognized Rush and said they were all dead. Outside, Eric and Rush had a confrontation, which ended up with Eric being knocked out and tied up by Rush. Brooke's children heard about the plane crash from some schoolmates. They went to Taylor for the truth. Taylor called Ridge; he arrived and explained the facts to the children, promising that as soon as their father was found, he and Brooke would be married. Taylor thought it was time to get on with her life. Grant presented Macy with a ring and a marriage proposal. James and Maggie quarreled about Sheila. She felt that Sheila had proven her unfitness by jumping from the building, but James couldn't understand Maggie's heartlessness. James gave Sheila CPR after she arrested post surgery. Later, he told her that he loved her and wanted to stay married to her.
December 8 to 12, 1997
Grant finally realized how he had messed up on his date with Macy. He whipped out an engagement ring and popped the question, but Macy didn't say "yes." All the Spectra gang were wondering what had happened to Lauren. When Clarke paid a visit to ask the same thing, everyone got busy trying to find her. Taylor learned that Brooke knew the truth about the baby and confronted her about it. The Spectra people finally agreed that Lauren had been on the plane with Eric. Stephanie found the dead pilot buried under ice, but couldn't believe the same fate had befallen Eric. Eric freed himself and rushed back into the cabin where he found Rush attacking Lauren. There was a struggle, and Eric fired the crossbow straight through Rush's chest. Maggie showed up at the hospital and reached for the off stitch to Sheila's respirator.
December 15 to 19, 1997
Maggie turned Sheila's respirator off, but Sheila was rescued in time to save her life. Maggie was arrested, but Sheila agreed not to press charges if Maggie would never go near her or her baby again. Maggie tried to convince James that she had done the right thing. Macy and Grant bought Insomnia then hired Katie as a waitress. Stephanie urged Ridge to reconsider his engagement to Brooke, then told Brooke that she would do everything in her power to get Ridge and Taylor back together. Just as they had given up hope, Eric and Lauren were found and taken home to Los Angeles.
December 22 to 26, 1997
Brooke questioned Ridge's true feelings. Just as Taylor was telling Ridge about the baby, Brooke announced that she was pregnant. James spent Christmas at Sheila's bedside. He told Maggie that he had not seen any signs of insanity from Sheila, and he planned to stay with her and the baby. Maggie and Mike teamed up to kidnap Sheila. They installed her in the Bates Motel from the movie Psycho.
December 29, 1997 to January 2, 1998
Mike, Maggie, and Mike's doctor-brother kidnapped Sheila and tied her to the bed in the Bates Motel from the movie Psycho. Maggie visited James to try to get close to him again, but he pushed her away. Amber was given a chance to sing at Insomnia. Taylor demanded proof that Brooke was pregnant, or Taylor would stand up at the wedding and announce that she was pregnant with Ridge's child. Brooke moved her wedding up from 2:00 to 1:00 while at the same time, making a date to meet Taylor at 1:00 to give her the test results.
