As the World Turns has hired the daughter of an Emmy-winning primetime star as its new Lucy.

As the World Turns will be bringing Lucy Montgomery back to Oakdale in the upcoming weeks. The announcement should not come as too much of a surprise to ATWT viewers, as Soap Central first reported on the show's plans to bring the character back in late-2005.

As expected, Peyton List (ex-Lucy Montgomery) will not be reprising the role that she held from 2001 through 2005. The actress, who earned two pre-nominations in As the World Turns' Daytime Emmy balloting, has been busy with work in primetime television. It is unclear if the show approached the actress about a possible return.

With List "out," the show has tapped Spencer Grammer to take over the role. Grammer, a newcomer to daytime television, is no stranger to the world of acting -- her father is Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer. Grammer has previous acting experience in motion pictures, including Descent and Beautiful.

A spokesperson for As the World Turns states that Grammer will make her first on-screen appearance on Wednesday, May 31.
